Heroine Showdown - Round 2/Group 4

Remember, though the voting widgets remain active, from this point on, NO voting in Round one counts.  And after this week, the first two preliminary rounds of the Heroine Showdown will be complete!  This group of heroines just keeps getting better.  This week, we start to see some matchups that are getting really tough - how do you compare Silence to Iseabail? :)

Just a quick recap of the rules we laid down this time around.  For more information on the reasons, check out our Heroine Showdown Homepage for more information and for what is still to come! No characters who do not have their own book, no two characters from any one series, and no heroine was eligible if her hero competed in the Hero Showdown.

Round 2/Group 4 -

Silence Hollingbrook (SCANDALOUS DESIRES/Elizabeth Hoyt)  Silence is the beautiful and brave widow, who does everything to save her adopted child.  She falls in love with the dangerous and cunning river pirate in London, Mickey O'Connor, who happens to be her adopted child’s biological father.  She is a strong woman who faces ridicule as a fallen woman at first to save her first husband and then a second time to save the child she has come to love as her own.  She is a woman who can forgive a man that attempted to ruin her and love him for who he truly is.  You have to respect a woman who can turn a harden criminal into a reformed man.  Silence is a proof that love can conquer all!
In Silence's own words:  Oh, I do hope you'll vote for me! Whilst at first glance I may seem but a shy and plainly dressed daughter of a beer brewer, please do keep in mind that I stood up to the most notorious river pirate in London...and made him mine. ;-)

Iseabail the Dangerous  (HOW TO DRIVE A DRAGON CRAZY/G.A. Aiken) Izzy is a warrior in every sense of the word.  Since she was 16, she trained with one goal in mind - to become a general in her Aunt Annywyl's army.  But if along the way, she could have made her sexy "Uncle" Eibhear realize they were perfect together, she would have gladly done so.  But alas, "things" got in the way of that... mostly his hangups about her being his "niece" and her sleeping with his cousin.  Now that she IS a general, she thought she had put her feelings for Eibhear aside in favor of her other dream.  But those feelings never went away. They hid dormant for decades and when the Dragon Kin family need Eibhear and Izzy to go on a quest to protect her little sister... the sparks ignite that volcano and these two are on fire!  Spunky and loyal, funny and smart, strong and clever, Izzy is the heroine you'd most likely want to head to a pub with... so she can drink you under the table!

Erienne Fielding (A ROSE IN WINTER/Kathleen Woodiwiss)  Torn between loyalty to her husband and love for the man who ruined her father, Erienne Fielding finds herself caught in a complicated love triangle where each man is more than what he seems.  Passionate and strong, Erienne has worked most of her life to keep her small family from falling into ruin because of the actions of her drunkard father.  When she is sold in marriage to a mysterious lord, Erienne is frightened of being forever bound to a man whose face she has never seen even though he treats her with the utmost respect.  She is also scared of the feelings she has for the handsome man responsible for maiming her brother in a duel and scandalously flirts with her even knowing she is married.  Erienne fights a war within herself that can only lead to victories when she understands which man is her true love.
Chloe Traeger (HEAD OVER HEELS/Jill Shalvis)  Who doesn’t love a wild child!  Chloe is the youngest of the ‘Treager’ sisters whose free-spirted ways drive not only them crazy but Lucky Harbor’s sex sheriff Sawyer Thompson.  I think everyone can identify with Chloe because she is a character who just wants to be loved imperfections and all.  She has learned to deal with a debilitating asthma and life her life to the fullest.  She accepts the love and grounding Sawyer gives her while she gets him to experience what life has to offer him.  She loves her sisters and does her best to prove to them they can depend on her.  You have to love a character that love with all they have and was worthy of love in return!

  1. I'm still disappointed that Jane Yellowrock and Gin Blanco aren't in the running. But the heroines you have chosen are pretty awesome. I went for Izzy and Chloe because I think they'd come out on top.

  2. I still can't think of anyone, so my generic "Kresley Cole's IAD series" is here again. On a different note, there were some books here I haven't heard of and am adding to my TBR list!

  5. on a separate note... Am I reading the names on the rafflecopter wrong? why does it say Silence v. Tabitha, Amanda v Jacy, Jacy v Chloe? There are only 4 books left, thus should only be 2 votes left, right?

    1. Sorry about that everyone! The Rafflecopter should be working correctly now - I put in the wrong widget... but since I couldn't replace it, I fixed this one so that you wouldn't have to do it over again! :)
